Hey Guys, its another week! I am really glad I signed on to do this Project 52 with the girls at the Bloom Forum. Its been so great to get me out and shooting, even when I think I am too busy. And then having to strain my brain to explore my interpretation of the subjects. Well this week was another favorite of mine.
Landscape. I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted to shoot. I wasn’t sure WHERE along the river I would have to go to get the best angle. I started about a mile away from where I actually ended up. Finally found the sweet spot. Got some good images, played with different lenses. Good to go.
I shot this on a Wednesday afternoon. I am on call for my veterinary practice on Wednesday nights, and I usually spend the evenings at my parents house here in town, since I live about 30 minutes away “in the sticks” After work I scouted locations and got my shot. My mom had picked up the kids so I could take my time.
Fast forward to 8:30 that night. I load the kids in the car and get ready to head home. As I am driving away, I notice that the sky (only saw bits and pieces through the trees) was purple. I HAD to go back and shoot the bridge. Just then the phone rings… its a call, but they are about 30 minutes out… perfect. I race to the river. The light is fading F-A-S-T! I manage to hit every red light and yell at them that artistic potential is at stake here!!! I finally get to the over look and its CLOSED! So I park nearby and run across an pedestrian path and managed to get a few shots off before the light was just totally gone. Even still I had to max out my ISO, knock my shutter to 1/40 ( hence the crappy image quality) but its still beautiful. I had to crop out a necking couple that had snuck in the overlook. I think they thought I was an undercover PI or something. They cleared out pretty quickly. SO here is my shot. I adjusted the exposure just a tad, and tried to reduce some of the noise, but other than that THIS IS HOW BEAUTIFUL it was. Amazing colors. Hope you enjoy!
Now check out my girl, Kristin M. Young and see what she came up with this week! Make the rounds, people!!!

You are one committed photographer, going for the shot in such rushed circumstances. It turned out beautifully. And honestly, I think the noise really works for this picture and I don’t think the quality is crappy at all.
Beautiful!
